Leman Academy Charter School brings Pre-K through 8th grades together in a single, light-filled building designed for learning, connection and safety.
The desire to bring all grades under one roof in an efficient layout results in the single-building design of the new Leman Academy Charter School. Home to Pre-K through 8th grades, the school is designed to support smooth circulation for pick-up, drop-off and daily movement. Following the school’s curriculum, the traditional classroom model is adjusted to shorten corridors, increasing connectivity and maximizing daylight. These corridors double as galleries, showcasing student work and connecting subjects—math, history, and art—across grade levels to foster real-world learning connections.

The new building features two cafeterias to accommodate all age groups during lunch, while maintaining efficiency with a single kitchen serving both spaces. The cafeterias, separated by an operable wall, can also combine into one large flexible space for gatherings and community events.

Outdoor learning and play are prioritized, with dedicated courtyards and playgrounds for each grade level, ensuring safety and age-appropriate spaces. Nestled in a neighborhood, the school employs a strategic pickup and drop-off pattern to maximize efficiency while preserving outdoor space.

Safety and security remain at the forefront of the design. After passing through the secure vestibule, visitors can see directly into the heart of the school, increasing visibility while maintaining scholar safety.
